As a task to get us to know how to lip-sync edit using Final Cut Express, we were given a sample from a previous student's work a few years ago. We got a full length video. and two slightly overlapping parts of the song. We were also given the original audio file to match up with the footage.
To do this we hid each part of the audio in turn, and added markers to parts of the song. Then we matched the footage up and deleted the live audio once it matched. after doing this to each clip, I used the razor blade tool to cut it in time with the song. I decided not to add too many cuts because a real music video would hold a shot for a whole line at least, rather than switching shots mid word.
